this get away retreat modern logᵇ(x)_Cabin, is a second home for a couple and their three children.
it is located on the oregon coast line, two + half hours south west of portland.
the deisgn is extremely simple and more complex in innovation. a steel truss "A" frame spans 6 bays of an 80' x 20' two story double height space.it is capped on either side by a poured in place formed walls that are proud of the side walls by 6". two garage doors centered on the long side of each wall, open up to allow the indoors to come inside, filtering the space with natural light. the evenly spaced skylights open to vent the trapped hot air collected in the double height space. on opposite sides of the logᵇ(x), are the two bedrooms, connected by a catwalk that is placed on wood members that go from outside, on one side to the other.
the view to the west looks over to the pacific ocean and to the port orford heads state park.
